Tim Fister is a materials scientist at the Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory. His research focuses on energy storage processes related to lead batteries, lithium ion technology, and exploring possible future battery chemistries. A common thread in Dr. Fister’s research is the use of high energy synchrotron x-ray methods to study electrochemical reactions in real time. Working with Argonne researchers in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division and the Advanced Photon Source, these studies track processes from the pack level to atomic scale reactions at charged interfaces. This research is funded both by the Department of Energy and a broad range of industrial partners.
